Rosh Hashanah

Well Happy Rosh Hashanah. I have a nice break of a few days off for the holiday. Well the trip to Jerusalem was a long long day. I’m not sure what to say about it really. It was a good trip and we saw mostly things I have seen before but that was still cool to me because the old city is always special. Right now most people are with there families for the holiday and only a handful of ulpanists have stayed here. Its quiet around the ulpan area which isn’t a bad thing really. Today me and my roommate cleaned our room which it needed. They inspect the rooms every once and a while and since we have the time now we just did it. Right now I’m outside getting eaten alive by mosquitoes on my legs so I’m gonna go back to my room then to dinner so sorry about the short post!

Tree video and pix

Video of the tree and some pictures

First Rainfall

Well another weekend is coming to an end. There was a latin party before the regular pub night which was fun. This weekend was the first rain and it caused a tree to fall in the ulpan area right by my room blocking a path. I will post a video and pictures of the rain and the tree. I have my trip to Jerusalem on monday which is exciting. That also means a short week this week. Work and class like regular on sunday then trip monday and regular day on tuesday, but wednesday is a half day because it is erev Rosh Hashanah. I got my package and i forgot my mom said there would be a surprise and I opened it up and found a book with pictures of all the family and of home it was a very nice surprise and of course there were sour patch kids. Today I went to the beach with some friends I usually don’t go that often but it was nice to go. I have to go upload the pictures and videos in the moadon on a wired connection once I finish writing this post. I  probably won’t even waste my time with the Vikings this week which is most likely for the best but the Wild start soon which is good. Well I got lots of stuff to upload so l will post again after my Jerusalem trip!

Midweek Update

Today two classes went on a trip to Jerusalem. We go next week on Monday but that meant we had to work a full day today. I worked from like 6-4 which is really long for such a monotonous job such as mine. I love to eat the fruit in the ulpan office its something I do everyday and today after work I ate 2 peaches and that was the highlight of my day. Rosh Hashanah is next week I don’t know exactly what I’m doing but it should be fun. I’m tired so I’m going to bed.

First attempt at video posting

Well I decided to make a video to see how that works. I'm thinking about doing some more to show more stuff on the kibbutz so we will see but check this one out for now I guess.

מאז שבאתי לישראל אני לומד עברית

The time seems to be flying by. Its been about 1 and half months already, there is a lot of time left but I feel like a lot of time has passed also. This week was pretty basic in terms of work and class. We watched this cool Israeli movie called “Noodle” to end the week and that was nice. Today I’m gonna do some cleaning in my room and just hang out out in the sun. Friday night is always the best dinner and there is free coffee and cookies at the coffee shop which is awesome. We are going to Jerusalem on the 26th for our next trip. I have made some friends at work which is nice and helps it not be as boring. Me and Ziv from North Carolina are doing a fantasy hockey team and I don’t remember if I said that earlier but it should be fun for sure. Every once and a while we throw around the frisbee which is fun but we usually can’t do it at the beach because of the wind off the sea. I think at some point we will get a football to throw around which sounds fun. On 9/11 about 12 of us did a Mourners Kaddish which was nice and I’m glad Sam got enough people to come. There is a hammock basically right next to my room that my friend Michael’s brother gave him as a gift which was a great idea. Still going strong and I hope the Vikes have a noon game so I can catch some of it because if they play the later game its too late for me to stay up.

Ulpaning At Your Own Risk

Well its been a while since I have blogged. I guess I just got in a routine and the days just pasted by. Since the last time I wrote I have been to this nearby mall twice. Its in this cool town called Or Akiva thats pretty close. Its a very small town but the mall is nice. Everyone once and awhile its nice to get off the kibbutz. We usually get a ride from a kibbutznik or someone there and take the bus back. When we came back last night apparently some parts of the kibbutz lost power but it really didn’t affect us. Me and Ziv from North Carolina are doing a fantasy hockey team with his friends back home which is pretty exciting. We had to change the draft date cause it fell on Erev Rosh Hashanah for us. At some point I plan on taking a trip up to Metula way up north and go ice skating. Once I get the logistics figured out I will make it happen. The people in the room across rom us work in the fish ponds and such and the other day brought back two turtles in a bucket full of water. It was a weird thing and the people at the Ulpan office were not amused when they saw and I think they put them back or something. Today only has two meals, a brunch from 9-12 and dinner at regular time so after this i will go to brunch and probably get the salad bar like i usually do because its the bang for your buck option let me tell you what. We started doing the past tense in Hebrew and I think I’m getting it. Tomorrow I will spend a good amount of time organizing my notes and studying and such. Apparently one of my friends from Taglit is in Tel-Aviv on a program so at some point I will probably meet up with him. If anybody wants to skype just let me know I usually have time at night here but the weekends probably work best for you guys because of the time difference. Our next trip is to Jerusalem in two weeks or so. Football season is starting I will follow the Queens as best I can from over here along with the Wild who I have higher hopes for. Well I’m about shower and go to eat! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Or_Akiva
