Short little update

Well we rebuilt the wall yesterday and did two more on the other side of the entrance. It was really windy while we were doing it and my hands were not a fan of the cold at all. the wind continued until tonight so its been a cold few days.
Uri had his last work day on Friday. We went to the Gamalia last night as a sort of goodbye thing but it was just nice to get out of here for a bit.
Days like today when its cold and windy and we don’t work its extra hard to find the motivation to get out of bed.
Well not much to say right now, I think I will have my test results from the ulpan exam sent to the owners here so I just need to ask them what there adress is I guess. My mom received something in the mail but it was just said that i completed the ulpan on these 5 months as an official thing. Bedtime soon gonna have some fruit then lay in my warm bed.

New Peoplez

Well After a few days of only 3 or 4 people we are now back to around 6 people. Its Me, Anya, Uri, Dvir, Michal, and Hadas. Its different feeling and atmosphere than before. Its not a good or a bad thing at all just different.
Today after breakfast we got to work on this mud structure we are building by the gate. We built an L-shaped structure 4 hay bales high and after we got the first layer of mud on Dvir tried to adjust the smaller side the whole thing just fell. It was like slow motion and I thought Yair would be really mad. Obviously its not ideal but what are you gonna do and we only lost 3 hours of work which isn’t a whole whole lot considering we have all the tools and material up in position to go at it tomorrow and such.
Well there is lots of time to think in the desert to just....be. I like to go out to this hill not too far and sit and look at the cliffs and the valley. Here I have experienced a lot actually. Living with Israeli hippies in the desert has been enlightening for sure.
I am here till March 11th and after that I don’t know whats in store for me. To return home or not? I have a Visa till the first week of April and friends willing to host me so idk but either way I enjoy my time here besides the compost stuff which may be the most disgusting thing I will ever do. Well good night and this weekend we might go on a hike in a canyon and a jeep trip so that would be rad...

Valentines Day

Well its been a while since I blogged which is bad cuz i don’t remember things  as well as the day the happened but i will try to catch up. Well It was the last week of three volunteers last week. We had some cool guests that invited us to eat two nights in a row and the second was a nice BBQ. Well it was my birthday about a week ago and i was surprised when i walked into the kitchen that morning and there were balloons and a sign on the table that said happy birthday. That night we made schnitzel and i got lots of bamba and pesekzman. Then Rinat and Yair brought me a big frozen yogurt and like 10 little containers with toppings to put on it. It was a pretty good relaxed birthday.
I went to Tel Aviv with all the girls and we stayed at Momo’s Hostel two nights. It was kinda a strange place to be honest but it did the job I guess. We went to the Shuk Ha Carmel Market and the Nahalat Binyamin artists market during the day and at night we went out to eat and met up with Sam and Ashley. After dinner went to the English Pub and met up with a whole bunch of people from the Ulpan and Sacha and Adina who we saw earlier in the day at the market. We then went to “MyBar” where one of our friends works at the door so it was a nice chill time and then at about 2ish we went home to sleep which was a bit early but after being used to going to sleep at like 9 its real late. The next night we ate at Moses Burger. After Dinner I went back to “MyBar” because it was real close to the hostel and hung out there for a bit before going back to the hostel. On sunday I went to the post office to pick up something and went right by the United States Embassy and the Eagle on the building is quite large and it looks an intimidating building. Then a few of us ate our last meal together at a nice little cafe I had visited before and then after that I picked up my bags went to the bus station and got on my way back to the desert.
Back here it was quiet for a day but now one of Uri’s friends Michal has to join us and volunteer so it feels not as empty. Today we almost finished the fence and will soon which will be very nice even though I don’t mind that work. The washing machine is in place and I think tomorrow it will get its first run. It will be nice to not have to have them do our laundry and give it back. Well I have one more month here and I hope to keep up better so i don’t have to cut short some of the information. A few of my friends might come visit which would be great but for now good night and Happy Valentines Day!

We need to improve this fireplace

Well its been a workweek since I blogged I think. Well we finished the final layer inside the art room I think we might have to do one wall over again but that was like the first one we did so not a big deal. We just got a new volunteer from Russia her name is Anya and she lives/works in Turkey. She is very quiet but its kinda hard to break into a tight group of 5 people who have been together for weeks already.
The other days this week we tried to put 250 meters of electrical cable through a pipe in the ground. We weren’t successful so we called in the Bedouins with the tractor and they came the next two days to help with that and just move around earth to help with a fence we built today. This fence we built took about a weeks worth of work in terms of collecting rocks in the truck throwing them out of the truck then going to get more rocks and before that me and Uri moved 92 hay bales just me and him with wheel barrows. And finally today we made a bed of rocks for the bales and stacked the bales 3 high on the rocks with windows in the second one. We finished putting the first layer of mud on the fence today after like 4 hours of work its not totally straight but its only the first layer so apparently we can fix.
Today is friday so we ate dinner in the Han. Whenever we eat there we eat this really good chicken and rice dish they make in these things called Poyke Pots. Its nice to not have to prepare a meal once a week and know what you will have will for sure be good. I have been eating like 2 oranges a day but I am running out of the good ones so I don’t know what to do.
Now its just chill by the fire time and today I made a pretty good one. Tomorrow we will go on a hike in this area and we are going to some place to look for shark teeth left over from millions when there was a sea here. Well its a simple life here and we have a lot of time to think and relax and if it was just a little bit warmer it would be perfect.
Well I guess its my birthday in less than a week so should be a good time!
